Payments & Milestones
How does payment protection work?▼
Taskova uses a milestone-based payment protection system to protect both clients and tradies:
- Client funds milestone – Money is held securely by Stripe
- Tradie completes work – Work is done as agreed
- Client approves – Reviews and approves the completed work
- Funds released – Money is transferred to the tradie
This means tradies get paid for completed work, and clients only pay when satisfied.
When do I need to pay for a job?▼
You fund each milestone before work begins on that stage. The money is held securely (not paid to the tradie yet) until you approve the completed work.
Most jobs use a deposit followed by progress payments. Deposit limits are set by state legislation, not by us — in Queensland the QBCC caps residential deposits at 10% of the job value, dropping to 5% once the job is $20,000 or more. We apply your state's cap automatically when you set your payment structure. For larger projects, you'll fund milestones as each stage is ready to begin.
What payment methods are accepted?▼
We accept all major payment methods via Stripe:
- Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex)
- Debit cards
- Apple Pay & Google Pay
- Bank transfers (for larger amounts)
How long does it take for tradies to receive payment?▼
Once you approve a milestone, funds are released immediately to the tradie's connected Stripe account. Transfer to their bank account typically takes 1-2 business days, depending on their bank.
Fees & Pricing
What fees does Taskova charge?▼
For Clients: No platform fees. You pay only for the work.
For Tradies: A small commission of 10% on completed work, capped at $25 for regional jobs. This covers payment processing, platform maintenance, and support.
There are no subscription fees, listing fees, or hidden charges.
Are there any hidden fees?▼
No. What you see is what you pay. The job quote includes all work costs. Taskova's commission is deducted from the tradie's payout, not added to your bill.
Do tradies pay to apply for jobs?▼
During our launch period, applying for jobs is free. In the future, we may introduce optional lead credits for premium features, but basic job applications will always have a free tier.
Verification & Trust
How are tradies verified?▼
We verify tradies through multiple checks:
- ABN Verification – Confirmed via Australian Business Register
- State Licence – Validated against your state's building authority:
- QLD — QBCC (Queensland Building and Construction Commission)
- VIC — VBA (Victorian Building Authority)
- NSW — NSW Fair Trading
- SA — Consumer and Business Services (CBS)
- WA — Building and Energy
- TAS — Consumer, Building and Occupational Services (CBOS)
- ACT — Access Canberra
- NT — Licensing NT
- Insurance – Public liability and professional indemnity certificates reviewed
- Identity – Basic identity verification
Verified tradies display a Verified badge on their profile.
What does the verification badge mean?▼
A verification badge means we've confirmed the tradie's ABN, state licence number (QBCC, VBA, NSW Fair Trading, or equivalent), and insurance are valid and current. It doesn't guarantee quality of work, but it does confirm they're a legitimate, licensed tradesperson.
Can I see a tradie's reviews before hiring?▼
Yes! Every tradie profile shows their overall rating, number of completed jobs, and individual reviews from past clients. You can filter by rating and read detailed feedback about their work quality, communication, and reliability.
Disputes & Resolution
What happens if there's a dispute?▼
Our dispute resolution follows a structured process:
- Direct Communication – First, try to resolve it directly via messaging
- Open a Dispute – If unresolved, either party can formally open a dispute
- Taskova Mediation – Our support team reviews and mediates
- State Authority Escalation – For unresolved disputes, we escalate to your state's building authority (QBCC in QLD, VBA in VIC, NSW Fair Trading, etc.)
What if there's a dispute?▼
Tradies are responsible for rectifying defective work. If you identify an issue:
- Document the defect with photos
- Contact the tradie via messaging
- Give them reasonable time to fix it
- If unresolved, open a dispute
Funds remain held securely until issues are resolved, protecting your payment.
How long do I have to report a problem?▼
You should report issues within 30 days of milestone completion. For structural work, statutory warranty periods under your state's building legislation may be longer. Always document issues promptly and communicate through the platform for records.
Can I get a refund?▼
Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis through our dispute process. If work is incomplete or defective and can't be rectified, you may be entitled to a full or partial refund from held funds. We follow your state's building authority guidelines — QBCC (QLD), VBA (VIC), NSW Fair Trading, and equivalents — for fair resolution.
